Lori Roach:
Banner Human
Resources goes live January 1, 2007. There will be four training
audiences 1) General User (All RAA employees) 2) Approver (Includes RAA
units) 3) Department Time Keepers and 4) Department Approvers. Training
for General Users will begin November 15, 2006. All general users are
expected to be trained prior to January 2, 2007. Training dates and
times will be posted on the web. Classroom and Web-Based training are
available.

Events this week: 1) Monday-Art Director-Graphic Design Competition 2)
Ron Horton-Jazz Concert 3) Tuesday-Wind Ensemble 4/5) Tuesday &
Wednesday-The Diviners 6) Thursday-Percussion Concert 7) Friday Live
Art Auction of Student and Faculty Work in the homes of professional
community volunteers to raise funds for the department..
Greg Phillips –
Petting Zoo well attended approximately 800-1000 from the community
attended.
Verlene
Ringgenberg – An ASU Early College, Izard County, calculus students was
chosen as student of the quarter.
Lynita Cooksey –
A) out-of-state scholarship handout showing eligibility
requirements for out-of-state waiver on tuition costs. B) This
Wednesday, will be the first Welcome Wednesday/New Student
Orientation. Approximately 25 students have registered. Advising
information and details will be forwarded by email following today’s
RAAC meeting.
Andrew Sustich –
A) RTT has $5,000 in funds available for Graduate Students up to $500
per student for research and creative works. No department match is
required. Contact Beth Hood for details at 2694. B) Graduate School and
Diversity have pooled funds to purchase ASU displays that may be checked
out for recruiting and other events. Contact the office of Dr. Andy
Sustich (3029) or Dr. Glen Jones (3030)
Gil Fowler – A)
Honors College is seeking co-sponsors for Lecture-Concert Series
for 2007. B) Expecting to have an Honors College Course Offering Master
List out soon.
Al Romero – A)
Chairs conducted a comparative survey of Banner experiences in Mid-South
institutions and found 1) Banner worked well where Chairs had full
access 2) Prior to Banner all information was downloaded into a
different system and not everything converted and 3) the latest version
of Banner has been problematic in complexity.
Barbara Doyle –
Working with departments on various issues regarding General Education,
Graduate School and Assessment.
Marti Allen – The
museum is doing a series on current faculty research and is most
interested in grant funded research. Visual media will be displayed.
Bill Roe–
Congratulations to Marketing and Management on a successful hire.
Russ Shain –
Lillie Fears is hosting the Annual Diversity Seminar on International
Culture.
George Grant – A)
3rd floor of library is now an exhibit area, please visit B)
85% of Inter-library loans are now done by email, speeding up service.
C) Contact library regarding cancellation of Journal subscriptions no
longer needed so accounts can be credited D) Book allocations not spent
will be forfeited-contact library immediately.
Sue Marlay-A)
This is International Education Week. Booths will be set up in various
campus locations throughout the week to publicize Study Abroad B)
Proposals for 2006-07 Middle East Studies Committee Grant are due
January 12, 2007 (Handout) C) ASU signed an agreement with American
Cultural Exchange (ACE) to offer intensive English courses on campus
beginning March 2007. Advantages for ASU include 1) receipt of a
portion of the tuition 2) conditional student admission and 3) the
possibility of ESL teacher training.
Carole Cramer-A)
ABI Summer Workshop forged International Consortiums with Brazil,
Argentina, Peru and Mexico B) Partnership for Research in Education
w/Polytechnic Institute with whom Dr. Pam Weathers is associated. This
partnership may provide the possibility of $3 million dollars in
Research Internships C) Argelia Lorance and Fabricio Medina-Bolivar are
participating in a High School Outreach program in West Memphis. The
Program is conducted completely in Spanish.
Jerry Farris-A)
ASU hosted WITS (Women In Technology and Sciences) Faculty from across
the sciences on campus B) Historical Experiences Labs are being named
after former faculty C) ASU is gaining more exposure. 7 students and 5
faculty presented research in Montreal.
