Research and Academic Affairs Council Meeting Notes

Research and Academic Affairs Notes

Monday, February 13, 2006

1.      RAAC Retreat—Susan Allen:  A handout was provided by Lynita Cooksey to determine action steps for 2005-2009 needed to complete the strategic plan.  This topic will be discussed at the RAAC Retreat on March 10, 2006 to be held at the Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center.  RAA units were asked to list their top ten unit priorities for long-range planning, and submit these to Lynita before the retreat.  The Retreat will focus on determining the top five overall priorities that RAA will focus on for the next 3-5 years.  A representative should be sent if a Council member cannot attend.  Drs. Allen and Cooksey will be available for meetings prior to the retreat, if necessary.

2.      Nonrenewal of Faculty Appointments—Robin Hicks:  Names of faculty not being renewed for AY 2006-2007 should be sent to Robin by 2/22/06.  This is to avoid short notice of rehire for employees.

3.      +/- Grading System—Candace Martin:  There is a student proposal on the +/- grading system that will be coming up from the Student Government Association.
