Position Title:  Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting

 

Qualifications:  Arkansas State University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer with a strong institutional commitment to achieving excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff.  In pursuit of that commitment, the Department of Accounting and Law invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting position, beginning August 2008.  The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. or DBA in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited school.  Professional certification and experience also is desirable.  ABDs near completion will be considered.  Candidates must possess a commitment to teaching, research and service compatible with our mission.

 

Responsibilities:  Applicants hired will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting.  Also, all professors are expected to engage in scholarly research, take part in curriculum and program development, assist with student advising, perform university service, and participate in professional outreach activities in the business community.

 

University, College and Community:  Arkansas State University is located in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  The University campus occupies 800 acres on the gently rolling slope of Crowley’s Ridge in northeast Arkansas.  Jonesboro is an educational, medical, industrial and agricultural center with a population of about 55,000.  The area provides an excellent quality of life, good public schools, and a reasonable cost of living.  Arkansas State University is 65 miles northwest of Memphis, Tennessee and 130 miles northeast of Little Rock, Arkansas.

 

Arkansas State University’s College of Business offers several baccalaureate and three masters degrees (MBA, MAcc and MSISeC).  The University has an enrollment of about 10,000 students at the Jonesboro campus and an additional 4,000 students at Distance Learning sites and several branches throughout the state.  The College of Business is accredited by AACSB.
